Discover a story of courage, action and honor at Flight 93 Memorial in Stoystown, Pennsylvania as part of this group bus trip. Located at the crash site of United Airlines Flight 93, hijacked in the September 11 attacks, Flight 93 Memorial was officially dedicated on September 10, 2011 opening the first elements of its permanent memorial. Honoring the 40 passengers and crew aboard Flight 93 who prevented the intended attacks on the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., Flight 93 National Memorial preserves, protects and tells the story of Flight 93 with the help of the U.S. National Park Service. 

 

Visiting Flight 93 National Memorial

During your visit to the crash site of Flight 93, view panels in an outdoor exhibit area and talk to Park Rangers and volunteer Ambassadors to learn more about Flight 93, participate in interpretive programs and honor those who lost their lives during the tragic event.

Visitor Shelter and Arrival Court

Start your time at the Flight 93 Memorial site in the Visitor Shelter and Arrival Court. Serving as a gateway to the story of Flight 93, the Visitor Shelter and Arrival Court feature interpretive panels that provide ways to explore the Flight 93 story. Park Rangers and volunteers are also available in this area of the memorial to answer questions and help familiarize visitors with the different features of the memorial.

Memorial Plaza Wall and Walkway

Marking the northern edge of the crash site is Memorial Plaza Wall and Walkway. Along the long sloping black wall, benches offer places for rest and reflection while small niches in the wall provide visitors with a place to leave tributes to the passengers and crew of Flight 93.

Hemlock Grove Impact Site

At the edge of the crash site visitors can see the remains of a hemlock grove damaged by the crash of Flight 93 and a boulder which marks the general location of the impact site. While the impact site was originally excavated by the FBI, the crater was later filled in at the instruction of the coroner.

Wall of Names and Flight Path

The Wall of Names includes 40 white marble panels inscribed with the names of the passengers and crew of Flight 93. Explore the subtle details of the Wall of Names. At the wooden Ceremonial Gate, you can look down the flight path to the impact site. 


Travel Tips

-          Construction continues on various features of the memorial including the Visitor Center Complex, the 40 Memorial Groves and the reforestation effort.

 

-          Scheduled interpretive programs and events are offered at Flight 93 Memorial. Ask Park Rangers and volunteers for more information.

 

-          The crash site itself is only accessible to Flight 93 passenger and crew family members.
