History of Colonial Michilimackinac

Established by French settlers in the 18th century, Colonial Michilimackinac was originally built to control the fur trade, development of the upper Great Lakes and as a military outpost. Today it sits on the land known as Fort Michilimackinac State Park.

Today life at Colonial Michilimackinac continues as it did in the 1700s. Give colonial women a hand in the kitchen or garden, or join Native Americans as they demonstrate their daily ways of life.
