Enjoy shopping and dining at the Wheeling Artisan Center as part of this group motorcoach vacation package.  Located in the heart of downtown Wheeling, West Virginia,  the renovated industrial building with a three-story atrium is a tribute to Wheeling’s rich cultural heritage. Originally built by Henry K. List to house his wholesale grocery business, the Center was restored by Wheeling Heritage in the 90s and has been a hub of activity that preserves and recreates the vibrant urban experience of downtown Wheeling ever since. 

 

Visiting the Wheeling Artisan Center

During your visit to this West Virginia attraction you will see a commitment of craftsmanship in dining, crafts, displays and recounting of Wheeling history as you explore the retail shops and exhibits of Wheeling’s industrial heritage, discover special events in Loft Gallery and dine at River City Restaurant.

The Emporium

On the second floor of the Wheeling Artisan Center is the Emporium. Enjoy a lively mix of arts and crafts featuring the best of West Virginia and regional artists as well as a large selection of the state’s food products. Shop a wide variety of local and regional handcrafted art and products, perfect to remember your visit to the Wheeling Artisan Center or as a gift.  Pottery, glass, wood, jewelry, willow furniture, toys, clothing, gourds, candles, quilts, scarves, hats, paintings, photographs, sculptures, mobiles, notecards, pillows, baskets, soaps and rugs are among the Wheeling Artisan Center’s handcrafted items for sale. Art available to purchase in the Emporium is selected by a jurying process. Additionally, Wheeling Artisan Center’s Emporium sells a wide variety of food products made in West Virginia including salsas, hot peppers, pickles, jellies and jams, honey, maple products, candy and muffin mixes.  West Virginia souvenirs such as postcards, photographs taken locally and t-shirts can also be found in the Emporium. 

Made in Wheeling Exhibits

Take a stroll through the Center’s exhibits. The Wheeling Artisan Center’s second floor also features Made in Wheeling exhibits, interactive, walk-thru exhibits that highlight the rich industrial heritage of Wheeling.

The Loft

Located on the third floor of the historic building is the Loft, a 7,500-sqaure-foot exhibition space used to host community events, ethnic festivals and artisan shows. Dining at River City Restaurant

Start or end your visit to the Wheeling Artisan Center in River City Restaurant, located on the first floor of the Wheeling Artisan Center.  The Center’s 80-foot-high atrium and historical dining area offers a unique dining atmosphere. From homemade soups and freshly made salads to hot and cold sandwiches, the River City Restaurant boasts an extensive menu with something that everyone will enjoy.
