Experience the proud history of the United States Air Force from conception to modern day in this fascinating museum.  Whether you are strolling through Memorial Park, or perusing the plethora of exhibits indoors, you will be amazed at the technological advances through the years and humbled by the sacrifices the men and women of the Air Force have made.

 

Your Experience at National Museum of the United States Air Force

Memorial Park

This outdoor park honors Air Force-associated people and units for their courageous service in the fight for freedom. Among the 500 memorials are a commemorative tree and plaque recognizing POWs and those who are still MIA.

The Early Years Gallery

Dedicated to the wonder and magic of the formative days of military air power, the Early Years Gallery includes artifacts from the Wright Brothers through World War I and leading up to World War II.

World War II Gallery

Housing one of the world’s top collections of World War II aircraft, this gallery tells the proud story of the U. S. Army Air Forces during the war capturing pivotal moments in both the Pacific and European Theaters.

Korean War Gallery

Here, the two most striking symbols of air power on both sides of the war – the F-86A Sabre and the MiG-15 are displayed side by side.

Southeast Asia War Gallery

Included in this gallery are many aircrafts of the era including a B-52D, an F-4C, and fighters flown against the Air Force by North Vietnam. Also featured are exhibits relaying details about key air campaigns such as Operation Rolling Thunder and Operation Linebacker.

Missile and Space Gallery

Contained in a 140 foot high silo-like structure, you can view missiles from ground level or an aerial view from an elevated platform on the inside circumference of the gallery. Also housed in this magnificent gallery is a portion of the museum’s space collection including the Mercury & Gemini capsules, the Apollo 15 Command Module, rocket engines, satellites and balloon gondolas.


Travel Tips

-Still and video photography are both permitted.

-The museum is wheelchair accessible and closed captioning is available on audiovisual exhibits.  Wheelchairs and motorized carts are limited and available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis

-The Valkyrie Café is open 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and features burgers, sandwiches, pizza, snacks and beverages.  The Refueling Café is open from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and has quick snacks and drinks.

-Full service Gift Shop on site.

-Photo ID may be required for entry. All bags are subject to search.
