Visit America’s favorite roadside attraction, Wall Drug as part of this group motorcoach vacation package. Located in Wall, South Dakota, just eight miles from the Badlands, 55 miles from Rapid City and the Black Hills and 70 miles from Mount Rushmore, Wall Drug’s beginnings date back to the Great Depression in the 1930s when it got its start by offering free ice water to thirsty travelers passing through. Today Wall Drug still offers free ice water, but having evolved into one of South Dakota’s top tourist attractions, the family-owned and operated business is now a 76,000-sqaure-foot shopping, dining and entertainment destination that sees as many as 20,000 visitors on a hot summer day.

 

Visiting Wall Drug

During your visit to Wall Drug Store, enjoy shopping in Wall Drug’s shopping emporium of 26 stores. Additional shopping opportunities are available at Wall Drug Store’s Western Mall. Backyard includes a quirky collection of picture-taking props from the miniature Mount Rushmore to the famous Wall Drug dinosaur. In the Western Art Gallery Café you will find the largest privately owned western and illustration art collection in the country.

Shopping at Wall Drug

Western items, authentic native South Dakota Jackalopes, fine art and a unique assortment of souvenirs can be found at Wall Drug.  As you browse through the many shops you will find 50 State items; Amia stained glass panels, suncatchers and welcome signs; Black Hills Honey Farms Balm, Badlands soaps, and Annie Oakley perfume in the Apothecary Shoppe; Landstorm’s Black Hill gold bracelets, rings, brooches, earrings, money clips, key rings, pendants and necklaces; Coleman Black Hills gold and Black Hills silver jewelry; beaver, buffalo, elk, jackalope and wolf bobble heads; books related to Wall Drug and South Dakota; bronzes and sculptures; confectioner including traditional fudge and salt water taffy; caps and hats;  Badlands, Black Hills, Mount Rushmore and Wall Drug t-shirts; home décor including blankets and pillows, branding irons and towels; Native American items including hand- painted pottery signed or trademarked by Native American artists; polished rocks; postcards and magnets; prints; South Dakota made items; and much more.

The Backyard

Backyard is 14,000-sqaure-foot building at Wall Drugs featuring the Branding Iron Arcade, an animated T. rex, Train Station Water Show and picture-taking props such as the miniature Mount Rushmore and giant jackalope. Additionally you can enjoy the Backyard’s Sluicing, Mining, Digging Experience and a shop that carries fossils, rocks, gems, casts and other items related to the Sluicing, Mining, Digging Experience. The Backyard also includes a specialty coffee shop and pizza parlor.

Western Art Gallery Café

Dine among the largest privately owned Western and illustration art collection in the country.  Western Art Gallery Café boasts over four dining rooms that together feature more than 200 original oil paintings, all with a Western theme.  On the menu you will find snack and lunch options such a hot roast beef sandwiches, buffalo burgers, homemade donuts and rolls, and five cent cups of coffee. The old-fashioned soda fountain serves milkshakes and homemade ice cream.
