Experience a cornucopia of history and information at this amazing historical complex. First, you can explore the Museum of the Cape Fear dedicated to the history of the region. Adjacent to the museum is Arsenal Park, a Civil War era weapons manufacturing site and the Poe House, a traditional Victorian Mansion.

 

The Museum of the Cape Fear

Peruse 400 years of the history of southern North Carolina at the Museum of the Cape Fear.  Two floors of informative and graphic exhibits tell the story of the region from the time of the Native Americans through the 20th century.

Arsenal Park

Stroll through this fact filled park and view extant ruins of a Civil War arsenal which was taken over by Confederate militia when North Carolina seceded from the Union.  See the remnants of the machine shops and the “ghost” tower.

The Poe House

Although he shares his name with the famous writer of the macabre, this Edgar Allen Poe was a prominent Fayetteville businessman. Tour the fabulous home of Edgar and his family and learn about life in the early 20th century.
